| It seems I'm doing a bit of Mining/Raiding to help my res. However with the coming of my new colony I was curious about how they worked. Are they essentially completely new planets that you must baby and watch over independently? For instance, should they all need to have their own research and such for each planet? If this is the case, looks like I'll end up close colonizing for res transport and building a fleet at my homeworld...
EDIT: Another question... planets 4-12... do they all wield the same solar/deut ratios? cause the same little tooltip appears for these ones, and are different than the 1-3 and 13-15

| They do need to babied for some time, they are entirely new planets, it's a good idea to give the colony a chunk of your saved res from your primary so you can get your resource production up to snuff. The research is equal throughout your empire. It is a good idea to make colonies close by at the start I'm going to assume, but I'll defer that to a more experienced player's advice.
As far as the duet/solar differences, they do seem to differ slightly, but not that much, the closer to the sun you will see some increase in solar effectiveness and farther the more duet you'll get. But, the differences in the 4-12 doesn't seem to differ too much in my experience thus far.

| You still need the basic facilities. Shipyards to build ships, robotics factories to decrease build times, etc... If you're wanting to do research on the planet, you will need the required ranks in things. | |

| You would need to find the system in a quiet galaxy. (Such as 5) So it's less likely people will be able...or want to...send IMPs. | |

| yeah if all your colonies are together they are vulnerable to massive nuclear destruction, however keeping them close by is great for transporting res quickly and keeping away from enemy probes. slot 9 has the best chance of getting the biggest planet | |

| It would depend on your playing style, see here for a general overview of them. It's good to have spread out planets for those who tend to raid and fleet crash in order to increase your possible range. Miners, like myself, would be better better benefitted to have planets close to each other. | |

| I've been doing a little of everything as far as play style goes, turtling (just got Gauss cannons! woot!) and raiding with my homeworld and using colonies to mine.
Currently in the process of turtling my colony so it doesn't get raided, but building up a good defense on a colony sucks cause of the facilities I have to make, lol.
I'll probably ended up just sticking to raiding/fleet crashing in the near future as my res are flowing decently enough to build up a fleet.

| Thanks:) I have to get used to not just spamming colony ships at once:( I usually got a lot of planets early on, and let them all fend for themselves like on a new account... In a week or so after colony ships you could have a decent empire that way... But this just means I'll focus more on ships:) | |

You cant do that in the redesign anymore. Due to new players spammin colonies and leaving the game, occupying loads of space in the universe they have introduced astrophysics. You have to research in to get colony slots. Works kinda like comp tech and fleet slots, though you only get a colony spot at the odd levels. (1,3,5 ...)

| oh I get it, sorry I speed read well I never spammed colonies before, but if you are active you'll find that raiding is about the fastest way at first, and fleeting is the fastest later in the game. So I am sure you'll be fine | |
