I just sent out an expedition as per the tutorial requirements. I sent out 2 LF and 5 SC, and all but one SC were destroyed by pirates. In your experiences, are pirates frequently encountered?

no they arent terribly common... next time id recommend you send more like 5-6Lf or add a few HF to your fleets if you have them unlocked

I recommend waiting till you have a bit more... And don't send anything better than HF until you get destroyers:) Also... Never send your entire fleet! You risk losing it and having to start building it from scratch...
