G'day, just wondering what everyones energy strategies are to build up resources in the quickest time (besides raiding farming etc) cheers Twisted Evil

Yeah the solar plant gets really expensive, building up solar satellites is always an option, however if you have to many you will become a target for some easy res and then you have to rebuild them. I build up a few fusion reactors too but i hate using the deut because I need it more than the other two materials. I feel like until around lvl 20 solar plant, im going to keep my solar sats below 5.

For a long lasting colony, your bread and butter should be regular solar panels. Depending on the climate of your planet you can either go with Fusion (if the weather is cold so you have a better deut rate) or satellites (if you have hot weather increasing their power). However, satellites die very easily, so you'll need adequate defense for them. I use solar panels and fusion on my home planet, just solar on another, and a mix of solar and satelites on my third.

I personally never build solar satellites, ever period. I only built them once in uni 9 when I needed 300k energy for gravitation technology, but then I had them destroyed and recycled them.

Relying on solar satellites is somethin I think only a turtle can afford to do because they got amazing defences, but another type of player will just be drawing a bulls-eye on their planet. They increase you fleet-points and make you a target for crashers!

As for fusion reactors, dont have that much experience with them, but they seem alright.. I would say you wouldn't need it till much later till the solar plant actually starts costing a lot. Above level 20 you are looking at millions of resources to upgrade them.

Currently I have no solar satellites or fusion plants, and I have solar plant 22, I reckon I wont build any fusion anytime soon though

Ya I stay away from the sat's and at all costs except for grav tech and try to hold off on fusion until I have too.

I'm sticking with solar plants until they get too expensive to upgrade, which won't be for another week at least. Then I'll probably switch to fusion reactors.
Although a lot of my resources just come from raiding.

lol, have you ever heard the saying, "easy come, easy go" Smile

Its actually in the lyrics for Bohemian Rhapsody Razz

Eitherway mate, I would advice against a lot of solar plants.

mate, you just breached rank 5000, I would say wait and see! you cant fleet save satellites! I really really advice against them, ultimately its up to you to take it from my experience in this game which is a considerable amount. I was playing this game before I was your age..

I just realized how old I am compared to most of you.... now I feel old...

Anyways, is there away to tell how your solar/deut ratio is? Like, maybe a chart about the planet positions?

Well I'm not that experienced, but what I have done has worked out pretty well. For my playing style at least.
I have basically grown my solar plant to about 10 and then started raiding inactives. Then you use the raided resources to increase your solar to level 20 or so. It gets tough after that. A good option for a high deuterium making planet is obviously a fusion reactor. And you can also slowly build up your solar plant.

My view on solar satellites is that they are useful but risky. You take a big risk by making a lot of them, because fleet crashers will look for people with a lot of fleet points, and solar satellites increase your points. That makes you a target if you build too much. All you need is one guy hungry for crystal to find your planet and destroy them all. Then you have a problem.
However, it strikes me that they may be useful in the latter energy stages for a turtle planet. Not many people will want to bother with turtle players, and so then maybe it's safe.
