Lol after reading this thread I think I will definitely start sending ships on expeditions. I'm willing to take the risk now haha.

The trick is to have a strong lead like a cruiser and some small/heavy fighters as fodder. Pirates will never win.... Aliens on the other hand...

lol see now u guys love expeditions and duze what i do with any ships i find is i start sending them because you can get some good stuff be cause how it works with finding ships is if you send LF you can find LF and HF, if you send LF and HF you can find those two plus cruisers so on and so forth i can add up

I send LF, HF and LC... It can get cruisers... When I tech to dest, I'm gonna send one or two of those along... Right now, it is dangerous sending cruisers along, cause if you meet them against pirates or aliens because they will RIP through your LFs:)

well you only need to worry about aliens... pirates as long as u dont just send cargo ships ull kill off aliens have a good shot at killing but ive never ran into aliens except the ones who sent a trader to my planet to trade

I'm just too paranoid to send my whole fleet. Knowing my luck they'd get attacked by aliens one minute into the expedition (made even more unlucky by the fact that can't happen) Laughing

I haven't got anything big back from expeditions as of yet.

Here is a tool that can tell you what ships can be found based on what you sent. Another thing I found while looking around was that aliens have (your combat tech +3) and pirates have (your combat tech - 3). I'm not certain what the small, medium, and large buttons are for though scratch

Even IF I meet pirates, which happens once in 30 trips or so, I don't lose every single ship... Far from... And so far I have made about 500+ DM, 800kmetal, 700k crystal, 90k deut and about 400 ships ranging from probes to cruiser with a total cost of more than 1.5 mill ress... I'd say, even if I did lose all those ships I send, by now they have more than payed for themselves:) I'm gonna up it to 60 LF 80 HF 60 SC and 2 dessies once I can:)

i demolish pirates... it's the aliens I have issues with. I always have 2 expeditions going at any given time, but they always hit my smaller expedition lol

I have like 13 hour expeditions.... the longest so far was 24 hours because the dumbasses in charge made a "navigational error" and "missed the target" causeing "delayed flight"..... bastards, I dont pay them to mess around!

i only see 2 practical uses... have min. espionage lvl and use them to see anyones planet... or two to divert fire away from big shiny expensive ships... i mean there pretty cheap and dont take long to make tons of them
